They say that no man is an island, and that includes Travis Kelce. But if Kelce is, say, an isthmus, there are still limited points of entry. There are places that his girlfriend Taylor Swift can reach that his friend and teammate Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, cannot. One of those places, Mahomes revealed, is having a say in Kelce’s hairstyle.

In an interview Tuesday with SiriusXM NFL, Mahomes joked that Swift has achieved something that even a three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback hasn’t been able to.

“I've been trying to get him to grow his hair out and all of a sudden Taylor gets him to do it,” Mahomes said.

While Kelce typically rocks a close-cropped ‘do, it didn’t go unnoticed that the tight end reported to Chiefs training camp late last month with a distinctly different hairstyle: longer on top, buzzed on the sides, and a little bit of bang action. If Mahomes is to be believed, the new look is due to Swift’s influence.

Of course, Swift has become friendly with the Mahomes family in the past year-plus that she and Kelce have been linked, and took in several Chiefs games alongside Patrick’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, from a VIP box, and the two couples have been spotted out socially together numerous times, including New Year’s Eve. Both Mahomeses also accompanied Kelce to Swift’s Eras Tour in Amsterdam earlier this year.

This isn’t the first time Swift has been connected to Kelce’s follicular foibles: Last year, Swift played Instagram Girlfriend and captured Kelce getting his traditional pre-game haircut from his pal, celebrity barber Pat Regan.

For his part, Regan said in June that Swift is “a good girlfriend to my friend” and when asked about a hypothetical wedding, said, “hopefully soon, that’ll be fun.”

“She’s just a really nice person,” he said of Swift. “She’s very interested in what you’re saying. She doesn’t act like the most famous celebrity in the world, you know.”
